El Municipio de Niquero es uno de los veintidós municipios en la provincia de Oriente. Constituye el extremo sur, al occidente, de la provincia de Oriente y tiene la figura de un triángulo, uno de cuyos vértices radica en el Cabo Cruz. Por el este linda con el municipio del Cobre; al norte con los términos municipales de Manzanillo y Campechuela, además del Golfo de Guacanayabo que también cubre en su inclinación el oeste; al sur sus costas son bañadas por el Mar Caribe.
