One of the best bargains in the Nikon range. Pretty bad build quality, but very good optics once you get used to it. Unfortunately mine was silver coloured so I sold it with my D50 (every other Nikon dSRL is black), I'm too vain to put a silver lens on a black camera 8P. I'm saving up for a 70-300VR now, just because I think that has a bit more resolution for my D80 and friend who used 70-300 (this one) on his D70 and was happy then, said it does have enough resolution for the D200 which upgraded to.

Note this is AF lens so the autofocus doesn't work on a D40/D40x/D60,
