ANTIGUA PINTURA AL OLEO -ESCENA DE LA PASION, CRISTO EN LA CAIDA-, H. 1880. NO COPIAS. SCENE FROM THE PASSION, CHRIST CARRYING THE CROSS, OIL. Artist:The painting is unsigned, but ascibed to Hitzinger, a German artist by whom we have bought a small collection of scenes from the Passion. Age: The painting is from the early 20th century. Medium: The painting is a genuine oil painting on canvas. Size without frame: The picture is 47 cm / 19 inches high and 35 cm / 14 inches wide. The frame itself is 2 cm / 0.5 inch wide. Description: On offer here is a moving scene from the Passion of Christ. The weakened Jesus is crawling on the ground, carrying the cross over his shoulder. He is assisted by a soldier and behind them stand two compassionate gentemen, clad in a white and a purple tunic. Above the crown of thorns, Jesus' head is adorned by a golden halo. Note that other scenes from the Passion are on auction, too! Condition: The painting is in fairly good condition with abrasions and stretchermarks. The frame is a beautiful, partially gilt, wooden frame in a very good state with only a few insignificant scratches.
