La placa identificativa indica la referencia del Ministerio del Aire británico A.M. Ref. No. 6B/408 y número de serie 4497. Este número de referencia corresponde al panel de control Tipo A del sistema de brújula G.M. Mk.4B, según documentación técnica británica de aviación.
El frontal presenta un selector central con las indicaciones GYRO, OFF y COMPASS, varios mandos de ajuste y una carcasa metálica negra. En la parte posterior conserva tres conectores circulares multipin con anillos de distintos colores, además de una placa adicional de identificación.
Este sistema giromagnético se utilizaba para proporcionar una referencia direccional estable en aeronaves, combinando la estabilización giroscópica con el seguimiento del meridiano magnético.
Pieza histórica interesante para coleccionistas de aviación militar británica, instrumentos de navegación y equipos Sperry de época. Presenta desgaste propio de su antigüedad. The identification plate shows British Air Ministry reference A.M. Ref. No. 6B/408 and serial number 4497. British aviation technical documentation identifies reference 6B/408 as the Type A control panel for the G.M. Compass Mk.4B system.
The front features a central selector marked GYRO, OFF and COMPASS, several adjustment controls and a black metal housing. The rear retains three circular multipin connectors with differently colored rings, along with an additional identification plate.
The G.M. Compass Mk.4B system provided a stable directional reference for aircraft by combining gyroscopic stabilization with magnetic-north tracking.
An interesting historical collectible for enthusiasts of British military aviation, vintage navigation instruments and Sperry equipment. The unit shows age-related wear, paint loss, scratches and some surface oxidation. Operation has not been tested; it is sold as a collectible, with no guarantee of functionality.
