Note that this item was consigned to us by an individual who owned a company that made movies and videos with famous celebrities in the 1980s and 1990s. The owner of the company would have the celebrities sign items from their famous films, and he also had correspondence with many famous celebrities which he saved. In addition, he would sometimes ask celebrities he came in contact with if they had signed items from other stars that they would sell to him, and he purchased a number of items that way. He also would purchase unsigned items from the famed Larry Edmunds Bookshop in Los Angeles or from other reputable Hollywood book stores and poster shops (to have the celebrities sign), and while he was doing that he would also purchase some of their signed items. were either obtained in person, obtained from celebrities who obtained them in person, or obtained from reputable Hollywood book stores, and we feel certain that the autograph on this item is authentic!
Important Added Info: This piece of paper has been personally autographed (signed) by James Whitmore. He was writing to a business associate and friend, and he wrote it on his personal deluxe note paper (which has his name embossed at top), and he closed with "Onward Jim", so there is not a full signature, but Mr. Whitmore wrote the entire message. The paper could be matted with a vintage or repro still and framed together to make a cool display!

James Whitmore was an actor from the 1950s to the 2000s. Throughout his long career, he alternated between TV, the Broadway stage, and Hollywood. Some of his movies include: The Shawshank Redemption, Battleground (nominated for the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for this film), Tora! Tora! Tora!, and Give 'em Hell, Harry (nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for this film; the film version of his one-man stage show, where he portrayed President Harry Truman). He was also memorable on a 1963 episode of "The Twilight Zone", playing "Captain Benteen", the captain of a group of shipwrecked survivors of a space ship crash on a distant planet!
