With Can I Play With Madness, Iron Maiden released the first single from their seventh studio album Seventh Son of a Seventh Son in 1988. The song immediately entered the charts and remains one of the band's greatest classics to this day. It is characterised by its striking chorus, Adrian Smith's melodic guitar playing and Bruce Dickinson's unmistakable vocals – a typical example of Maiden's anthemic heavy metal of the late 80s.

This release appears as an elaborately designed picture disc in 12" format and bears the catalogue number EMP 49. The picture disc features the iconic artwork by Derek Riggs, who places Iron Maiden's mascot Eddie in surreal, apocalyptic imagery. This combines musical power with visual collectability – a perfect combination for fans.

In addition to the title track, the single includes the non-album tracks ‘Black Bart Blues’ and ‘Massacre’ (a cover version of the Irish band Thin Lizzy), which further enhance the appeal of this release. It is these B-sides in particular that make the single especially interesting for completists and collectors.

The picture disc EMP 49 is now considered a sought-after collector's item, as it was only released in limited quantities and has not been regularly available for decades.

The playing surface is that of a 7" single although the shape extends to approximately 11".

The disc has a transparent rim.

Presented in an 11.5" PVC sleeve with a lip. Affixed directly is a rectangular transparent sticker with a blue/yellow band logo.
