El Loco marked the beginning of a new phase for ZZ Top. After their raw blues-rock roots of the 70s, this album saw the band experiment more extensively with modern sounds, effects, and humorous lyrics – a precursor to the global success they would achieve with Eliminator (1983).

This Japanese promotional edition of El Loco combines two special features:

Musically, it's an underrated ZZ Top album with many great tracks.

From a collector's perspective, it's a true rarity, as promotional pressings from Japan were produced in very limited quantities.
