Hard Back, 1928. First Edition In very good condition. Some pen markings on 2 pages. The other markings were pencil and I have rubbed them off. In very good condition considering it´s age. 96 pages. Wrapped in brown cloth with black titles as seen on the photos.

First published in 1928, this book dives into the development of human civilisation, looking at how societies have evolved across time. Heath had a particular gift for making history accessible, and this book is known for its clear prose and detailed illustrations. The 26 plates you mentioned are probably the highlight—often intricate and evocative, they really bring the narrative to life, offering visual insight into the stages of human progress.

Sidney Heath’s work often focuses on the evolution of civilization, technology, and culture, and this book likely explores those themes as well, making it a blend of history and art. Given that it’s from 1928, it’s also a snapshot of the worldview and social attitudes of the time—pre-WWII but on the cusp of many dramatic changes in how people thought about progress and the future.
